Beautiful lakes, parks, golf courses, museums, antique shops, theater, and more surround Miami County. The City of Peru is home to the Peru Amateur Youth Circus and the International Circus Hall of Fame. Peru's circus heritage dates back to the 19th century when famous circuses like Hagenback Wallace used Peru for winter quartering. Mississinewa Lake, with a summer pool of 3,180 acres, is home to the best fishing, boating, and camping in Indiana. A short drive to the south and you're in Indianapolis enjoying a professional basketball or football game, or cheering on your favorite at the Indy 500 or Brickyard 400 race.

In addition, Kokomo, St. Josephs, Logansport, and Wabash hospitals are all within 20-30 minutes of Peru, Miami County.
Education
There are four primary school systems serving Miami County operating a total of 13 elementary, 3 middle, and 4 high schools. In addition, Miami County is within 20-30 minutes of Indiana University/Kokomo and Purdue University/Kokomo, harboring some of the finest computer and engineering programs in the nation, Indiana Vocational/Technical (IVY Tech) College, and Indiana Wesleyan/Kokomo.
